Good Ol' Plinking!
The gang of the five "Hard Heads"....
And "Tin Can Joe" (He was a whole can without a scratch before we started shooting! :o)
One thing that we have been trained in very thoroughly...is that the number one rule for shooting firearms, is safety!
Even though we have fun dressing up like cowboys and pretending the targets are bandits...we never "play" with our guns. Too many people have been hurt or killed with "empty" guns...I just don't think it is worth the risk to mess around like they are toys.
It warmed up to a balmy 35 degrees today for our shooting. It has been so cold the last few weeks, that we boys got a touch of cabin fever I guess! Anyway, thanks to today's sport...we are all better!

Yeah the joys of global warming eh? lol.
We've been having some seriously cold weather here too lately which has been great for sledding. :)
Those are some pretty neat shots you got. Too bad our all-knowing legislature here in NJ is so infinitely much wiser than our founding fathers who wrote in the constitution that there should be no law passed regulating firearms.
Mr. D3,
It's even sillier that we have to have a "FOID" card in Illinois.
The questions they ask on the form are absolutely ridiculous.
And, the criminals will still get their guns/ammo. without having a card. So, the only people who probably have FOID cards are law-abiding citizens who wouldn't commit a crime with a gun anyway.
Mrs. McD, a FOID card owner but not by choice.
David,
The questions they asked on my application form were, "Are you mentally handicapped?" "Have you been convicted of a firearm felony in the last 5 years?" "Are you an illegal alien?" etc.
Now, who would answer 'yes' to any of those questions or the other ones that are on that form???
Probably no one.
Well, someone might want to answer yes to the question of whether they were an illegal alien if they didn't want to pay their taxes and get free healthcare. :D
But yeah, you are absolutely correct. The only thing firearm regulating rules are going to do is make fewer law-abiding people have them. If a criminal wouldn't think twice about committing robbery or murder why would he have any qualms at all about breaking the law to get a gun?!
Moreover, I heard someone wrote a book about an experiment where every single citizen in a certain area in the U.S. was given a gun and the crime rate was monitored before and after. According to our government, the crime rate should have skyrocketed but instead it dropped drastically.
Put simply, I think our founding fathers knew that most criminals weren't desperate enough to run the risk of being shot.
We like to shoot guns around here too. Even Momma has taken part in our "shoot-the-soda-cans-with-the-BB-gun" game. Now, that's something to be proud of......a shooting Ma!! :)
We also have a rifle and a shot gun, but haven't shot them since we moved here. There has been a few times we ( as in me, myself and I ) have wanted to get one of them out to shoot a coon or a deer that was in our yard, but Momma has always "halted" us before we could get out the door. :)
Hello Dick Dale! (JK)
Sounds like a lot of fun. It's still way too cold to do any shooting up here, that is, unless you want to wear a snowsuit, and that's not very "cowboy-ish" =)
Good luck with your gun, it's a real good looking shootin' iron.
The Ferrys.
Handguns are pretty nice, glad you have one Jack. Currently my first line of defence is my solid Remington 700 ADL-S. You can't beat that solid bolt action for hunting or target in my opinion.
The caliber is a solid .223, which is perfect for varmits and, if you shoot good, deer. Most guys like a little heavier for bigger game and that is understandable. I like the .223 round because it is both cheap (its a military round that has killed quite a few terrorist in Afganistan and Iraq) and is highly accurate.
I have to say I'm glad I live in Indiana were the gun laws are very leinient when it comes to rifles.
